Here is Why Detox Diets Don’t Help You Lose Weight!
Hi all
Detoxification diets are very popular. They are especially popular after the holiday season, when the average person gains several pounds.
Detoxifying your body from different environmental toxins is a huge business. There are books, drinks, supplements, pills, and kits. This is a multimillion dollar industry.
But they really work?
Your body has natural ways to get rid of toxins. This is part of your body’s natural system for protecting itself. There are plenty of ways that your body will flush out toxins in the bloodstream and also in the cells.
Many of these detox diets have been shown to be no more effective than your body’s natural detoxification systems. There is simply no magic diet that will flush every single toxin from your system.
The one benefit that can be seen from many of these diets is due to the increased amount of water that is consumed while on these diets. The excess water will help you to have the proper hydration levels in your body. They can also help to flush out some of the toxins by using your body’s natural systems.
Another benefit of these detox diets is due to the amount of fruits and vegetables that are consumed. The antioxidants in these foods help to promote better looking skin and can help to remove some of the toxins because of an increase in fiber intake.
The basic concept of a detox diet is a good one – you really do need to clean up your diet. You need to eat less junk food and increase the amount of healthier food that you consume.
The major flaw in a detox diet is that you are trying to make up for years of poor eating habits in just a matter of a few days. Even if you were able to clear out all of the toxins in your body in just two or three days, if you go back to your regular eating habits, you will be right back where you started from.
A much better approach is to make a lifestyle change by incorporating healthy eating habits, drinking plenty of filtered water, and adding mild to moderate exercise several times a week.
Take care.

So, Alex, it’s not so much a ‘detox diet’, more of a programme to ‘get eating what you should to keep your body healthy and working properly’!!
Enjoy the journey.
